From post-Covid anxiety to social media stress and college pressures, today’s children are often overwhelmed with the pressures. Research shows that there is increasing need for help from behavioral health resources. One Michigan school district was recently experiencing short-staffing at centers to meet the demand spikes for mental health care. The district found the answer in a Remote Reps team—designed to meet the capacity and the empathetic care required to align families to community-based mental health care providers.

Solution

With almost 50% of cases related to depression or anxiety, often times school can exacerbate symptoms, amplified by social media bullying, and the challenges that come with growing up. Remote Reps understood the need for a referral from stretched-thin school staff members. The team mapped a clearcut process to navigate insurance for families and students aged 3 through high school graduates, as well as adults and senior citizens. With a database of insurance, providers, and community support, the team helps align students with the support they need to be more productive at school and reduce stress. Enabled by a proprietary database of behavioral health providers and community resources, on a 24/7/365 basis, the team helps the district coordinate care for their community facing mental health and substance use challenges. With communication via calls, texts, and emails on the district's behalf, the team provides personalized focus and builds strong connections with the students and their families. Remote Reps Team is trained specifically for this role, with guidance on delivering empathetic, compassionate care. There is a balance of warm, genuine dialogue—with less scripting—combined with the sales approach to drive for the district success via appointment booking, etc. The Team has been a tremendous resource for the school staff members who do not have the time to research and connect students to resources. The Team is enabled by proprietary software to support case management and unify the power of human connections and technology.
